Nebraska football fires defensive coordinator Erik Chinander

Nebraska fired defensive coordinator Erik Chinander on Sunday after a 49-14 loss to Oklahoma.Assistant coach Bill Busch will be the Huskers’ defensive coordinator for the remainder of the season, according to NU interim head coach Mickey Joseph. “We appreciate Erik and the work and dedication he has given to our football program,” Joseph said in a statement. “At this time, I feel that it is in the best interest of the Nebraska Football program to take the leadership of the defense in another direction and decided Bill Busch will take over as defensive coordinator.”Chinander joined Nebraska’s program with Scott Frost in December 2017.Frost was fired on Sept. 11 after compiling a 16-31 record in four-plus seasons with the Huskers.

Chinander joined Nebraska’s program with Scott Frost in December 2017.

Frost was fired on Sept. 11 after compiling a 16-31 record in four-plus seasons with the Huskers.
