Fourth quarter


Stanford scored on a 7-yard Brycen Tremayne 7-yard touchdown catch, but the Cardinals were dealt some unfortunate luck on the point-after attempt, as a bad snap led to a failed conversion.

That leaves it as a two-score game on the Cardinal’s second failed PAT of the night. BYU 35, Stanford 26.

Can BYU hang on?


Stanford gets on the board for the first time in the second half, marching 75 yards in eight plays before Ashton Daniels scored on a 1-yard run.

The Cardinal added a two=point conversion to make it a 15-point game. BYU 35, Stanford 20.


That ought to wrap things up — BYU’s Puka Nacua scored on a 25-yard reverse on third and 4, giving the Cougars their largest lead. BYU 35, Stanford 12.

BYU kept the ball on the ground on Jacob Conover’s first drive after Jaren Hall left injured.

Third quarter


Jacob Conover is in at quarterback for BYU after Jaren Hall left the game hobbled at the end of the Cougars’ previous drive.

Hall was stopped short of a first down on a fourth-down attempt when BYU was deep in Stanford territory.

How will Conover handle the situation?

Second quarter


Stanford added three points on the final play of the half, as Joshua Karty connected on a 54-yard field goal to send the game into halftime. BYU 28, Stanford 12.

The Cardinal converted a fourth and 4 to set up the field goal.


Isaac Rex caught his second touchdown pass, this one a 1-yarder on third-and-goal, and BYU has four touchdowns on four possessions. BYU 28, Stanford 9.

Stanford appeared to have a goal line stand inside the 5 but the Cardinal were called for offsides on a third-down attempt the play before the score.


The Cardinal have their first touchdown, scoring on a 1-yard Mitch Leigber run to cut into the Cougar lead. The extra point was missed, though. BYU 21, Stanford 9.

Stanford used a fourth and 5 conversion to get the 75-yard drive going on a play that netted the Cardinal 22 yards and got them deep into BYU territory.


BYU went into its bag of tricks for a touchdown pass, as Jaren Hall capped a flea flicker with a 43-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Rex. BYU 21, Stanford 3.

The Cougars have 221 yards of total offense to make it a three-score game.

First quarter


BYU has two possessions and two touchdowns — Hinckley Ropati rumbled 43 yards for a touchdown run, capping the Cougars’ second straight 75-yard scoring drive. BYU 14, Stanford 3.

BYU already haas 126 rushing yards in the game.


Stanford responded to BYU’s opening score with one of its own, going 49 yards and scoring on a 34-yard Joshua Karty field goal. BYU 7, Stanford 3.


BYU marched right down the field on its first drive, going 75 yards in seven plays and scoring on a 19-yard Jaren Hall run. BYU 7, Stanford 0.
