Bearcats lose 3 commitments in 2023 class following Fickell’s departure


Less than 24 hours after news broke that Cincinnati head football coach Luke Fickell was leaving the program to take the same position at the University of Wisconsin, members of the Bearcats’ 2023 recruiting class are choosing to reopen their commitments.As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, three players have announced their decommitment from the upcoming UC signing class.Three-star wide receiver Ayden Greene was the first to decommit, posting just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening that his recruitment is “100% OPEN.”Monday morning, Jonas Duclona, a three-star cornerback prospect from Naples, has also announced his decommitment.Shortly after Duclona’s decommittment, Roseville, Michigan’s Amare Snowden followed. According to his pre-decommitting Twitter bio, Snowden was committed to both the Bearcats football and baseball programs.Ironton’s Trevor Carter, a four-star linebacking prospect, tweeted Sunday evening that while he’s still committed to UC, he has reopened his recruitment.According to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings, the Bearcats currently hold the 35th-ranked 2023 class in the nation and still hold commitments from four-star prospects Brady Drogosh (quarterback, Warren, MI) and Daeh McCullough (South Bend, IN).
